About Life Scientific
We're a Dublin-founded crop protection science company, taking on a $250 billion global market with a reverse-engineering model that few others in the industry have taken on. We operate across 16+ countries with a team of around 100 — and we're growing.
The Opportunity
Procurement at Life Scientific sits right at the centre of how we compete — sourcing Toll Manufacture, Formulation Materials, and Packaging & Labelling across a global supply chain. As our Junior Buyer, you'll support the Procurement Manager across all areas of tactical and operational purchasing, helping shape and deliver the sourcing strategies that keep our supply chain moving.
You'll input into the Sourcing Strategies for Toll Manufacture services, Formulation Materials, and Packaging and Labelling — and then get to work executing them.
This Role Is For You If You…
• Know your way around purchasing mechanisms within the Agrochemical supply chain
• Understand toll formulators and the different formulations they work with
• Are familiar with formulation inert manufacturers and distributors
• Know packaging & labelling suppliers and manufacturing techniques
• Understand what the Agchem industry needs — or know who in the business to ask
• Are comfortable travelling throughout Europe on a regular basis
What You'll Do
Sourcing & Negotiation
• Run the RFI/RFQ/RFP processes
• Prepare and plan negotiations
• Support — and where defined, lead — negotiations
• Recommend the allocation of business
• For identified categories or suppliers, lead the negotiation process on behalf of the company to deliver business benefit, value and cost improvements
Category & Supplier Management
• Be the point of contact for Toll Manufacture, Formulation Inerts, and Pack/Label Purchasing, both internally and externally
• Input into the relevant Sourcing Strategies, and for your allocated categories and/or suppliers, create and develop sourcing and supplier relationships that support these agreed strategies
• Ensure supplier performance is monitored, evaluated and communicated
Market Intelligence & Reporting
• Keep market intelligence up to date
• Be responsible for data collection and reporting on market intelligence for your categories, including identifying other potential sources
Operational & Financial
• Keep ERP data up to date and correct so the P2P process runs smoothly
• Deal with invoice queries
• Work with Finance and related functions on transactional tasks within the Procure to Pay area
Continuous Improvement
• Identify cost saving opportunities and deliver associated approved projects
• Support the Procurement Manager on specific improvement projects to drive gross margin improvement
• Work with Technical, Registration and other business partners to deliver source changes for your categories
What You Bring
Essential
• Knowledge of purchasing mechanisms within the Agrochemical supply chain
• Knowledge of toll formulators and different formulations
• Knowledge of formulation inert manufacturers and distributors
• Knowledge of packaging & labelling suppliers and manufacturing techniques
• An understanding of Agchem industry requirements — or the ability to identify who in the business can advise
• Fluent English
• A bachelor's degree in a related subject, or equivalent experience
• Willingness to travel throughout Europe on a regular basis
Desirable
• A professional purchasing qualification, or working towards one
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12–24 months, you'll be a trusted point of contact for your categories — running clean, well-prepared RFI/RFQ/RFP processes and negotiations that deliver real business benefit. Your ERP data will be accurate and your invoice queries resolved without drama. You'll have built strong relationships with suppliers and internal partners alike, kept market intelligence current, and identified cost saving opportunities that turn into approved, delivered projects.
